Three steps

  1. Install

Run the installer. It sets FanPilot up as a service and opens the pairing page at the end.

  2. Pair

On your phone, on the same Wi-Fi, scan the QR code shown on the PC. The code is single-use and lasts about 3 minutes.

  3. Adjust

Open a fan, drag its curve, apply. On Gigabyte boards the curve is written into the chip and keeps working with FanPilot closed.

Requirements

  • Windows 10/11 64-bit, run as Administrator (the program asks). The .NET Framework it needs comes with Windows.
  • Gigabyte boards: the Gigabyte Control Center installed, with the EasyTune Engine Service running.
  • Other boards: the PawnIO driver, which FanPilot offers to install with winget, asking first.
  • GPU: NVIDIA through the driver (NVML); AMD and Intel Arc through LibreHardwareMonitor. Without a dedicated GPU, the rest works.
  • Linux (beta): x64, systemd and kernel 6.1 or newer, Ubuntu 24.04 and Fedora as reference.

Why Windows warns you

FanPilot’s files aren’t signed yet: free signing for open-source projects has been requested from the SignPath Foundation. A new program with no verifiable publisher that asks for Administrator and talks to the hardware is exactly what SmartScreen (“Windows protected your PC”) and some antivirus programs block.

To check that a file is exactly the one published (built by the CI from the source, never on a personal PC), download it and the SHA256SUMS.txt from the same release, then run in PowerShell, in the download folder:

(Get-FileHash .\FanPilot-0.1.0-win-x64-setup.exe).Hash -eq ((Select-String -SimpleMatch 'FanPilot-0.1.0-win-x64-setup.exe' .\SHA256SUMS.txt).Line -split '\s+')[0]

True means the file is the release’s. False: don’t use it, download it again.

With the hash checked, on the SmartScreen warning: “More info” › “Run anyway”.
